Weather fine. Began removal of topsoil using backhoe with broad flat toothless bucket.
Continued removing topsoil. Line of possible barrack (2 of them) became apparent - tops of walls showing immediately below topsoil. Obtained permission from Salvation Army to carry fencing up to the corner of their building. Machine work curtailed half an hour early by fault with its fuel supply.
Barracks are very close to pavement level at north and east of site, but there is a greater depth of material - up to 1m - at the south end. Asphalt & concrete area next to parish centre removed.
