An Important Sherd

[ Sherd of Black Burnished Ware ] Although it may seem rather insignificant, this tiny sherd from the rim of a Black Burnished Ware 2 bowl has an important tale to tell. It was found amongst the turves of the rampart of the primary fort and dates to the mid- to late-2nd century A.D., thus providing a terminus post quem for the construction of the primary fort.

The scale is in centimetres.
