The letters NV have been impressed into this piece of Roman
brick or tile, with what appears to have been a rectangular-framed die. They
may represent the initials of the numerus vigilum, a unit of soldiers
which the Notitia Dignitatum records as being present at
Concangis in the 4th century A.D.
