Publishing

In the field of publishing, I undertake small freelance jobs (anything from typesetting to full publishing) which helps pay the bills, but my real interest increasingly lies in electronic publishing. As well as having an interest in etexts, ejournals and the like, I am currently working on a World Wide Web project to create a 'dynamic book' about Roman military equipment, I maintain a small site that focuses on the desiderata of the Roman world, mainly culled from my own travels, and I have produced a description of my excavations of 1990-1 on the Roman fort at Chester-le-Street. I am also exploring a number of projects that combine conventional printing and multimedia, the first fruits of which will hopefully be ready in 1998. I am, for what it's worth, a member of the HTML Writers' Guild.

Reflecting my interest in Roman military equipment, since 1989 I have edited and published a newsletter on the subject, Arma, and edit an academic journal, the Journal of Roman Military Equipment Studies.

In the unlikely eventuality that you want to see a list of works with which I have been involved, there follows just such a catalogue. Alternatively, why not go and make a cup of tea instead?
